CBS shows inspire video games

Video game enthusiasts will be racing to their favorite retail outlet to pick up the new "The Amazing Race" game. Due October 26, the Wii game will challenge players to overcome various challenges as they make their way through exotic locations all across the globe. Series host Phil Keoghan is featured in the game and greets players at every pit stop to read the clues, introduce challenges and give away prizes to players.
Another CBS series heading to store shelves in October is "CSI: Fatal Conspiracy" which features five new connected cases written by the same writers from the TV series "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation." Players will experience an authentic crime-solving video game with real CSI characters, heart-pounding interrogations and enhanced graphics. A unique story structure that unveils the truth piece by piece brings a new level of suspense and intrigue. The game will be available for the Wii, Xbox 360, Windows PC, and for the first time ever on the PS3.

The Penguins of Madagascar got game

Team Penguin will bring their madcap missions to the Nintendo DSi and DS in the first ever game for The Penguins of Madagascar. Due in November, the game features Skipper, Kowalski, Rico and Private working together to complete levels and build useful tools and gadgets to advance in the game. The game, created by THQ, is packed with exciting puzzles to solve, and enables players to alternate between the Penguins, performing acrobatic moves, unlocking paths and creating helpful contraptions. The game will also feature stealth-based missions, super silly interactive moments, bonus levels and mini-games. A special DSi camera feature includes King Julien’s sassy critiques of players’ own photo snapshots.

Out of the Box Publishing added 10 Days in Americas and Pirate versus Pirate to its lineup as well as Word on the Street Junior and Word on the Street Party Case. Card game 7 Ate 9 and Shake 'n Take round out the six new offerings.

LEGO puts its brand on New York City

A new 3,000 sq. ft. LEGO store opened today on the corner of Rockefeller Center in New York City.
To commemorate the grand opening, guests are invited to help to build a 16-foot high, 2 1/2 ton LEGO model of a giant red apple in honor of its hometown city. The first 500 guests to spend $35 in the store on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday will receive an exclusive, limited-edition LEGO I love New York t-shirt! Shirts are available in child’s sizes only.
A LEGO lovers dream, the store features smaller scale LEGO versions of some Rockefeller Landmarks including its Prometheus and Atlas statues. Other cool happenings at the store include the opportunity to host a LEGO-themed parties at the store, take classes from "master builders" or attend club meetings with other LEGO fans.
The store also boasts the "world's largest" pick-a-brick wall with stacks of bins where customers can select any of 163 LEGO bricks.

The Last Airbender makes videogame debut

The Last Airbender video game hit shelves today for the Wii, DSi and DS systems. The new THQ Inc. game is based on the highly anticipated live-action adventure film and brings the world of bending to life as it invites players to relive the movie’s epic adventure from the perspective of Prince Zuko of the Fire Nation. The game also includes never-before-seen in-game cinematics and levels that extend the story and expand the thrills beyond what is shown in the film. The game is rated T for teen (Wii) and E10+ for everyone 10 and older (Nintendo DSi/DS) and is available for $39.99 (Wii) and $29.99 (Nintendo DSi/DS). The game will also be available throughout parts of Europe and Asia in the coming months.

Kids to flip over Wild Planet games

Preschoolers will flip over Flipper Frenzy, a new game from Wild Planet Entertainment that promotes physical activity and early learning skills. The game (due in fall) features four sea creatures and an electronic hand-held scoop shaped like a smiling shark. The shark calls out characteristics of the animals and players run to scoop up the corresponding creature. The game also has a hide-and-seek game and a listening game called Sharky Says.
For kids six years old and up comes Hyper Dash Extreme which kicks up the elements of the original game with more games and an upgrade from static targets to moving ones.
Under its Crayola line of branded games comes Guess My Picture, a game of creating and identifying pictures made from different shapes; Doodle Match, a memory game in which players practice matching colors and objects and Color Mix-A-Roo, a no-mess game of color-mixing that teaches basic blending skills.
